Strikingly Huge Beetle from North Bass Island

More photos on this rainy day from my trip to North Bass Island. A giant beetle, which was crawling on a dead log. It almost appeared that it was basking in the sunshine, but I can't be sure. I took a few shots and moved on. Being a naturalist is awesome. I get to take really cool pictures of bugs and get paid for it!

  1. It looks like the bessbugs I would order through the Carolina catalog at the beginning of the year to teach the kids the scientific method. We'd make a lasso out of dental floss, attach them to petri dishes with washers in them, and then hypothesize and see how many they could pull! I could get more info on those bessbugs, if you want, it's at school.
