Independence Day Sky Watch Friday
I started my day by listening to the Declaration of Independence read aloud here. I must say, it was thought provoking and fascinating to think how far our nation has come since this day 232 years ago. The King of England was "the man" back in those days. Check it out, it will take 6 minutes of your time.
By the way, this shot is from our trip to Sanibel Island this March. Yes, the trip during which I was sicker than a dog with a constant fever that I thought would NEVER go away!

ReplyDeleteMy Sky Watch Friday posts
I remember those days when you were sick on vacation. My daughter goes to the same island looking for shells. They are in Georgia this weekend panning for gold.
ReplyDeleteNice photography and really neat for Sky Watch Friday.
I think this is the best Sky Watch Friday yet. The things I have seen are very encouraging and the photography is spot on.
I really admire your photography skills and your critical eye for composition, lighting and texture.

More praise to Tom and Jane for hosting Sky Watch Friday...without them I might never have discovered this wonderful blogsite!!! Just starting to look through your photos, but love what I've seen so far and will be back!
ReplyDeleteThis is nice with those palm trees framing the flag. Happy 4th and skywatch to you! It really is something when you stop and think about how far we've come isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThat didn't look like Ohio at all!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July to you!
Cheers, Klaus
It is well known that we Portuguese once sailed the seven seas searching for new lands, wealth and adventures.
ReplyDeleteWe were brave in those days and gave the world new worlds!
Luckily I don’t have to sail the big oceans on a small ship to sea the wonders of our world …
No Sir, I just need to check with Mr. Tom, the finest host there is, for a trip around the world with SKY WATCH TOURS and with a click here, a click there I am quickly in the USA, England, Brazil, Italy, China, Australia, Finland … well, everywhere.
And on each stop I come to see a little marvel of our world under a great sky!
Hope you can come and see my piece of the sky at lenses & visions
I don´t think mine will be a match to yours but even so ...
Great catch for SWF! This reminds me the quote... "God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we want to be. Follow always that great law. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement".... Happy weekend! Mine's up too hope you can drop by..
ReplyDeleteGreat shot...Happy 4th! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot- you can feel the breeze and the warm sun.

Very informative, and a great pic for your special day over there.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo! Very timely for today.
ReplyDeleteNice shot - I like the flag against the background of the trees rather the more usual composition of the trees framing it.
ReplyDeleteTom: Happy 4th and I wish you and the family the best.
ReplyDeleteNice photo of the flag.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.

How neat to see our wonderful flag flying among the palms!
ReplyDeleteBummer, though, that you were sick during such a great trip. :-(
Great sky watch post, still trying to see all the sky watch photos on Tom's blog.
ReplyDeleteEveryone, thank you, thank you, thank you.
ReplyDeleteAbe- I love skywatch and thank you so much for you wonderful comment. I don't have as much time as I used to (but will again come winter!) to leave comments on others blogs. I'm reading yours too and really enjoying everyone's photos. I'm glad that we all pull for each other when we aren't 100% Thinking back to being sick makes me really appreciate my good health the last few months. Hang in there. Sounds like you are doing much better than a few months ago!
Tom
great shot!
