Sky Watch Friday- An Autumn Afternoon in Ohio

Megan and I came across this magnificent sky during a hike at Slate Run Metropark, October 21, 2007, near Canal Winchester, Ohio.

  1. I loved your shot last week, but this is gorgeous! The color composition is wonderful. It's funny I think I see old man winter blowing there in the middle!

  2. Thank you Carletta!

Humm...yes, now that I look at it more closely, I can pick out what look like several mustaches. And we had a fairly good winter this past season!

  8. Fantastic fall scene with intriguing clouds. The only possible improvement would be having a cow or two in the foreground. :-)

  11. wow! great catch! In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west, the people create distinctions out of their own minds and then beleive them to be true…. mine’s up too hope you can drop by

I'm glad you knew about Mike's Place. I think you were the only one who knew the restaurant. I'm going to link you in to my place. I enjoyed your visit with your parents.

  20. Gorgeous contrast. I love crisp blue skies, with brilliant while cirrus/cumulus mixed in for good measure. Splendid.

  33. Thank you, Thank you everyone. My strategy so far for sky watch has been to go through my image archives and pick sky scenes that are particularly interesting to me, and, I hope, to you. Yes, this fall shot did throw everyone off a little bit, I guess! One person mentioned the light and how it does not seem to be emanating from any one direction. This may be due to the fact that I used a circular polarizer for this shot. It really was a spectacular sky, and we stood there marveling and the thin wispy clouds, the green grass, and the yellow leaves for several minutes before we geared up and hiked back to our cars. Thanks everyone for the kind comments.
