Olentangy River Fish

I'm going to make this one quick, but last night I was able to catch some fish in my five dollar bug net. I was in the Olentangy, and I think I came up with a banded darner, and some other type of riffle dwelling minnow, perhaps a central stoneroller, but that is a complete guess.

  2. Thanks.....that really was a guess, but a neat find. I'd like to do some seining on the Olentangy.

Do you know if that is in fact a banded darter?

  3. Yes indeed. Banded darters are fairly common in central Ohio. Keep an eye out for the rarer species in the area such as bluebreast, spotted and variegate darters.
