  1. What am I looking at, the leaves or the squirrel nest?

  2. Well, there's no squirrel's nest in the picture.

  3. Looks like a sumac branch hauled up in a beech by a porcupine. But that wouldn't make any sense. Don't make us wait too long for the answer, Tom.

  4. Is that a small tree (with root ball) in the limbs of another tree? -MerryDragon

  5. Well, we don't have porcupines in Ohio where this shot was taken. And it isn't a sumac. But it is a small woody species with root ball hanging in another tree. Any more guesses? I'm just burning to see what you guys come up with.

  6. When you tossed this up in the tree, were you trying to get rid of an invasive species? ;)

  7. That is quite possibly what happened. I've been known to leave trails of woody invasive shrubs in my wake.

  8. Any more guesses as to what species this is? I gave a hint in one of my previous comments.

  9. OK OK it's Burning Bush! But how the heck did it get hung up in that tree? Did you hurl it in fury?

  10. Let's see, I live in SW New York not that far from the Ohio line, and we've had some mighty high winds lately. Funny things can happen in these winds.
