Snow comes as Ice
I'm just waking up, and instead of inches of snow, it looks like we had inches of ice. Ohio State University, the biggest in the country, has even closed this morning. Looks like Megan won't have to go to work either, since Franklin County has declared a Level II snow emergency. Supposedly, the ice will soon change to snow this morning, and it looks like we'll receive maybe six inches today. The ice really throws a wrench into everything! But the real question is, will the Governor declare a weather emergency for state workers?

No, he won't! You have to come to work, Tom!
ReplyDeleteLooks like this here, too. Enjoy the time off if you get it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a mess! Hocking County was at a stand still today. Electricity off for hours, still no phone.Branches falling all around us.They are so heavy with ice that when a limb falls it sounds like a whole tree coming down. Before it got daylight I thought the whole woods behind us was falling :) I was glad to discover it was only limbs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to my rescue on the Towhee. Someone had guessed what it was but I am grateful you answered my call.
Thanks Tom,
Lona
Ah,, not sure who Anonymous was...maybe one of my co-workers? Gov. Strickland did not call us off, and I went into the office.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, I did get an hour off since I went to work late this morning.
Lona- you are welcome. Hang in there, I hope your power stays on. We went five days without power after the the Hurricane this past September and it was horrible.
Also, it snowed about five inches on top of the ice today. It is over, the city is cleaning up, Oh how I wish we had more plows.
Tom
yeck ice!
ReplyDeleteTom- We seem to get more ice than snow. It is pretty yeck.
ReplyDeleteThe ice is the WORST! We got LOTS of snow, here in Munroe Falls, woke up to atleast twelve inches, total! We all said, we don't think we've ever seen this much snow. We did get a little ice early this morning, I could hear it on the skylight, that mixed in with the snow. We spent most of the day trying to keep our driveway and Grandpa's clear, but it didn't stop until tonight. The main roads are even bad, there was just so much! Took me a half hour to clean off the truck that was buried in snow and layers of ice! We have a few days to recoup until the next storm, scheduled for Monday, I hear!
ReplyDeleteMom
Ice storms are dangerous! I like how your state issues a level # warning instead of just a general warning...I've never heard of that before.

Funny, the relativity of things. Everything was closed last month, when 1" of snow fell on New Orleans. *chuckle*
ReplyDeleteMegan i s a lovely Mom to be - let's get rid of this weather for the birth..
