Last week's sky watch image featured our flight to Washington Reagan airport. U.S. Airways had apparently known that I was coming, and the window was perhaps the cleanest I have ever seen in an airliner. It didn't even have the top layer of the plastic window starting to peel away, like most plane windows that I have had the pleasure to look through. Just fantastic clearness, and the sky and clouds sure did cooperate on this day.
On our way back to Columbus through Washington D.C., we were treated to a spectacular evening flight into Reagan National. The first officer of the plane got on the intercom and told us that we would be completing one of his favorite landings, the "river approach" to Reagan. He announced to the left, we would be able to see the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Capitol.
Sure enough, we were treated to a spectacular landing. The little girl in front of me, probably four or five years old, was looking out the window too, and you can here her say, "Wow this a big city".
The Washington monument appears first, the the Lincoln memorial, than you can see the capitol building towards the back of the frame (its a bit fuzzy and difficult to make out). Finally, the Jefferson Memorial, right on the river, pops up for just a second before the video ends. Enjoy!
