Point and Shoot

Delaware County, Ohio
I love the times around the equinoxes.  Why?  Because I'm traveling to work just before and just after sunrise.  This can lead to some absolutely incredible photographic opportunities.  Today I just had to stop the car and snap this image with my Canon D10 point and shoot.

This roadway was built with the expectations that it would be home to shops, offices, and condos.  But the recession hit, and now there is nothing but a fancy roadway meandering through a chopped down forest that is now starting to grow back.

  1. I actually remember driving on that road when I was at OWU and thinking it was odd to build a fancied-up road in such a rural spot. Beautiful photo, though!

  4. There is a great road to drive outside of Phoenix that is pretty much the same. It is a huge 40 mi long stretch of 4 lane road with a divider in the middle. They planned on similar urban sprawl, which never happened. It just runs through flat desert but it is a great place to see a few species of rattlesnake. I couldn't help but notice how similar this looks. I wonder if you could catch some salamander migrations on this road if there are good vernals on the side?

  5. Buckeye- That's pretty cool. Unfortunately, this road is about half a mile- that's it. It connects US 36/37 with a country club and luxury homes that were developed. It gets a fair bit of traffic, so this site probably wouldn't be better than many of the roads in the area, but I like the way you think!

  6. Herps are always on the mind... Columbus has some great roads in the suburbs around it that have been good to me in the past.
